Last night I relaunched our knowledgebase area with a new responsive design and some pretty new colours.

There are still a few holes that we need to fill in with the documentation however the new layout and design provides a much faster way to sort through the volumes of information we have for each theme, and Joomla in general. The design itself is a contender for a Joomlabamboo redesign but I am going to let it sit for a little while before I make any decisions.

Mobile Friendly ...

I used our Responsive Template as a base for the design and couldn't go past optimising it for mobile browsers. So the documentation will be upfront and accessible on desktops, ipads, iphones and other smart phone devices.

Better definition for sections on the page ...

One of my main aims was to more clearly delineate the different sections within each doc. In the past I used some subtle green numbers off to the right that users often missed. The new numbers coupled with some classy css3 highlight each section on the page very clearly which will make it easier for you to skim through and glean the information you need.

In page navigation ...

One of the key features (actually implemented in the old design) is the in page naviagtion anchors.

This is actually using a prototype version of our JB Type plugin that uses the flexible nav jQuery script to generate the pagelinks based on the H3 heading on the page. I'm hoping to have an update to JB Type with this feature in the next week or so.

Site Speed ...

In addition to this the pages should load quicker on your end. I've worked a little on the general site caching, compressed and combined most of the css and js assets using the framework, and also implemented cdn for the other assets. I was happily surprised to see that the JomCDN plugin now supports Smush.it (perhaps it has for some time?) which makes optimising your images as simple as runnign a cron for the site.

Your Feedback ...

I'm keen to hear some feedback from users regarding the overhaul - what do you like? What dont you like? - we make the docs but you use them so please let us know how they can be improved.
