A recent update to the T3 may result in a blank page for your Joomla 3 installation if you are running an installation less than Joomla 3.3. This is a bit of an edge case and one that we are yet to see in the wild but a number of tests on our quickstart packages locally have produced the error.
An update to our flagship responsive Joomla module, Zentools, was released a few days ago which contains a couple of new handy features. If you are new to Zentools, it's basically the all in one module that we use to build much of the functionality you see in our Joomla templates.
The stacked layout is a new way to organise your content. It's a faux parallax effect that uses fixed positioning for background images which sit underneath your item's content.
Late last week I released the latest Joomla template to be added to our catalogue, Lifestyle2. Lifestyle2 is the Joomla 3 template update for our original Lifestyle template with the addition of some new layouts and new styles all built on a solid T3 Framework foundation.
I've just posted the details about some updates for our Zentools module which feature heavily in the Lifestyle2 demo, so it may well be worth your time investigating the new additions to our favourite responsive Joomla module.
This was the first time I'd worked in depth with Easyblog and I must say it is a very well thoughtout and easy to use component. It's pretty easy to see why it gets such a good wrap from alot of different types of Joomla users. I think if I was starting a blog today this Easyblog would be my firm choice.
It's been some time since we released a major update to Zentools.
Most development for Zentools has been going into the Zentools v2 branch but with the impending release of our new Blogging template (due out this week) which has support for Easyblog, I felt it was high time to push some of the new features from v2 back into v1.
If you don't use it already, Easyblog is the pre-eminent platform for blogging with Joomla. It's a complete blogging solution which includes everything you need to create a fully fledged blog in Joomla.
Our Joomla template for April, Client, is a super sleek and clean business template for Joomla. Tight alignments, simple structures and grid based layouts make the Client template a great choice for your next client centered or business focussed website.
It's is a responsive design that features sticky nav, off canvas bar, our new (free) Maps2 module and the new (also free) Mod Skillset modules. It's built on T3Bs3 which means it takes advantage of all of the bells and whistles of the latest and greatest version of the Bootstrap framework.
I mentioned a week or so ago that we had a new beta version of our maps module available and the good news today is that it officially goes stable and in even gooder ... I mean better ... news it is now free.
Check out the original announcement here or grab a copy now. We will be building the documentation and demo site this week but I can guarantee it's super simple to use so you will be able to start mapping straight away.
I've just put together a beta package for our upcoming release of Maps2 - our new Google maps Joomla module.
Maps2 is a significant update to our free map module JB Maps, in fact, Maps2 is a complete rethink on the whole methodology of using a map in Joomla.
So now rather than entering latitude and longitude co-ordinates into a text input you can either enter an address in the admin and the map preview will automatically find the location. Or if you want a more hands on approach you can drag the map to the specific location you want to display and then just hit save.
We are midway through a 4 week trial of a new cheaper and slightly shorter subscription to our Joomla template club.
So for the next two weeks, if you haven't already, you can take advantage of the 2 month plan option. The 2 month option costs $30 AUD (For U.S. based folks thats around $27 USD) and is priced at the same rate as the 3 month option - $15 per month. It just provides a cheaper entry point for getting access to a single theme.
When the T3 team released the update to the T3 framework (which includes support for Bootstrap 3) we needed to create a new base theme that included all of the great new features added to T3.
The Base3 Joomla template is a new starter theme that has full support for T3BS3 and other assorted additions to the T3 framework. It is the new base theme that we will start development with all of our new T3 themes with, so it's a great place to start if you use our themes already and want to see how we work.
Hub was high on my list of favourite Joomla templates from our back catalogue and so I'm super excited that Hub2 is now available for Joomla3, using T3 and Bootstrap 3. It's also a fully responsive template so it makes a very obvious choice for someone who needs a sophisticated magazine style theme for Joomla 3.
Hub2 is the first theme built on our new base theme, Base3. Base3 will be released next week as a second additional club theme release for March.
I am super excited about our March Joomla template. In the spirit of the Profile template we released last year, I now present you with Profilr. Profilr is all about the big screen. Big video, big gallery, big images ...
It is a stand alone template (no framework required), that comes with some incredible layout options baked right into the template itself. You can easily create full screen slideshows, full screen photoset grids (with a built in responsive lightbox) , full width galleries, fullscreen maps and fullscreen background videos.
